A Message from the Principal
Welcome to William C. Reavis Elementary School located on the northeast side of Lansing. Reavis is a school where students are treated with respect and dignity. The school houses students from the community who are in kindergarten through fifth grade. We have two all day kindergarten classrooms. Students who have special needs are accommodated by a learning resource room, a self-contained, cross-categorical classroom and a communication disorder classroom. All students are offered a complete educational program that is aligned to the Illinois State Standards for Learning.
The mission of the school is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for a diverse population of students to develop and acquire the skills necessary to become productive and responsible citizens. The curriculum is designed to educate, challenge and help students to become self-directed learners. Student learning styles are taken into consideration in the delivery of the classroom instruction. Technology is used to engage students in the learning process. The curriculum addresses students who need remedial help as well as the gifted learner. Enrichment programs are offered before and after school to broaden students' learning experience.
The community and the PTA are partners with the school. Volunteers are welcome to help in the school with classroom activities and in the after school programs.
The teachers are committed and are highly qualified individuals who are certified in their field by the State of Illinois. They are lifelong learners who believe that all children can learn and will learn when effective classroom teaching methods are used. It is the commitment of the Reavis Staff and administration to strive to teach and train the students to be successful contributors to their community.
Sincerely,
Margaret Williams
Principal of William C. Reavis Elementary School
