By-Laws of the District #158 Music Boosters                       

 

The next scheduled Music Booster meeting will be Tuesday, May 8th in the Band Room at 7:00pm.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT FEES for Cadet Band,

Concert Band, Concert Choir and Beginning Band

 

There will be no charge to participate in the District #158 Music Program. You may have to rent an instrument and or pay for private lessons or purchase a uniform part. However, you will not be charged a fee to be a member in good standings.

 Thanks to our wonderful District #158 School Board who have graciously assumed the cost of the early morning band busses.

SECTIONAL REHEARSALS AT YOUR SCHOOL

 

Sectionals will begin the week of October 17-21 2011 at all the schools in our District #158 Music Department with one exception. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 is a half day of school. For this reason Coolidge will start their sectionals on Wednesday Oct. 26, 2011.  Mr. Allie will not be able to leave Memorial Jr. High School because of a shorten class schedule.  The afternoon classes will be taught in the morning.

CADET BAND REHEARSALS

 

The first Cadet Band rehearsal for the 2011-2012 school year took place on Wednesday, September  7, 2011.

 

Cadet Band meets every Monday and Wednesday morning from 7:30 - 8:30am in the band room. Students should report to the band room by 7:15 am. Students should enter at door 19 on the East side of the building. Please drop your child off at in the circle drive in front of the band room. Do not use Ward Street for safety reasons.

 

There are no band busses for Cadet Band. Trinity and St. Ann students need to provide their own transportation back to school. Parents can "car pool" transporting the children back to their respective school.

BEGINNING BAND REHEARSALS

 

Beginning Band meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:30 - 8:30am in the band room. Students should report to the band room by 7:15 am. Students should enter at door 19 on the East side of the building. Please drop your child off in the circle drive in front of the band room. Do not use Ward Street for safety reasons. Parents can "car pool" to transport the children to the early morning rehearsal.

 

Two band busses for Beginning Band will transport the students back to their respective schools after the early morning rehearsals.

Concert Band & Cadet Band chair Auditions    for 2012-2013 School Year

FIRST SEMESTER AUDITIONS

During the first week of school all Concert Band personnel must pass-off all of the fifteen major scales and the chromatic scale on their respective instrument. In addition, all percussionists will perform the thirteen essential rudiments for the snare drum to be considered a full Concert Band Member.

First semester Concert Band Auditions are held on the first Thursday and Friday when school begins in the fall during the first week of school.

If a 7th or 8th grade band member did not demonstrate a proficiency of the scales and rudiments then said student is placed on probation.

SECOND SEMESTER AUDITIONS

The Concert Band and Cadet Band chairs auditions will take place the first week back from Christmas break. Monday, January 9 through Friday, January 13, 2012 all Cadet Band and Concert Band students will be auditioned.

This audition is performed during the students’ regularly scheduled sectional time during the school day. Concert Band St. Ann and Trinity students will perform their audition at the conclusion of a Concert Band sectional after school. This audition is for chair placement in the Concert Band only and will not remove a student from the Concert Band. 

Cadet Band  is preparing to go to District Band Contest in March with the Concert Band this year. Chair Auditions for the Cadet Band will take place during the regularly scheduled sectional time for all Cadet Band members.

Remember our private lesson policy

            Barring extreme circumstances, all missed lessons will be paid for.

              With 24 hours or more notice, lessons will be rescheduled at the instructor’s convenience.

              In order to avoid missing a lesson, students are encouraged to contact their private teacher 

              early for names and telephone numbers so students may temporarily trade times.
