The Beginning Of A New School Year

Make Learning Fun

Let's get ready for First Grade.  Review the school rules.  Talk about making good choices.  Encourage good school habits.  Help your child become a good reader.  Read with your child everyday.   Review Color Words, Number Words,  Sight Words, and Readiness Words.  Talk about shapes and patterns.  Practice counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.  Learn about money.  Identify and count coins.  Talk about fractions when you cut a pie into slices or eat a pizza.  Let your child measure the flour and water when you make treats.   Children think learning is easy when they are having fun.
