It is suggested that the facilitator form the explorer's teams. This will help prevent cliques from forming. It will also control the possible exclusion of particular students based on ability level, physical characteristics, or socioeconomic status. This problem based learning unit should benefit all students. Also, students will feel a sense of community. The facilitator should divide the groups heterogeneously.
