What Lies Beneath?![]()
MI: Visual/Spatial; Interpersonal; Intrapersonal
LS: Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judging
Do you know the specific names of things in the ocean? You are going to work in teams to complete a vocabulary activity. You need to match the picture to the correct definition and vocabulary word. When you find the match, glue the picture and vocabulary word to one side of an index card and glue the definition to the other side of the index card. These flashcards will help you to be a great study guide for a quiz or test.
2. Emergency 911![]()
MI: Mathematical/Logical; Visual/Spatial; Bodily/Kinesthetic; Interpersonal; Intrapersonal
LS: Extraversion, Sensing, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging, Perceiving
Materials Needed for this activity include 6” X 6” piece of aluminum foil, 3 popsicle sticks, 6 inches of tape, 5 Gummi Savers
The detailed instructions page gives students websites to research different weights of animals. Students should be able to measure in centimeters using a ruler.
Many animals are trapped in oil-infested water and need you to save them! Using the materials below, construct a floatation device at least 20 cm long and 15 cm wide to rescue oil-covered animals. Your floatation device will be tested in a portable ocean that only your teacher has access to. You will need to predict how many animals you can save. Use the scale to see what each animal’s weight is represented by. You need to research the weights of the following animals: dolphin, sea turtle, whale, shark, penguin, and seal. What is actually in the ocean? Did you know that the ocean is divided into different zones? Visit the sites below to find out about the different zones of the ocean. Then recreate the zones of the ocean by making a 3D or 2D model, making sure to label each zone as well as making sure to place at least two animals in each zone.
