Superintendent's Message |
Welcome to the Lansing Elementary School District #158 web site. Our District has a rich history in a community known for its support of quality schools. District #158 consists of Lester Crawl Primary Center, Coolidge, Oak Glen and Reavis Elementary Schools, and Memorial Junior High School which houses sixth through eighth grade students and follows a middle school concept. By utilizing the State Construction grant program, we have been able to complete additions and/or renovations to all of our schools.
The District #158 Board of Education has adopted the Illinois Learning Standards and Benchmarks for our curricular programs. Our curriculum is aligned with these State Standards, allowing our students to excel in the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) and other local standardized assessments.
District #158 students are supported by auxiliary services including health care, speech/language assessment and therapy, counseling and psychology services, learning resource centers, and an award winning technology program. Special Education programs and services are available to meet the needs of District 158 students with disabilities from birth to age 15. Additionally, the district offers an enrichment program for students in grades 2-8. We are pleased this year to also offer ALL Day Kindergarten and a new hot lunch program.
We are very proud of our students and their consistent level of achievement. We attribute this success to an excellent staff of dedicated teachers, administrators and support personnel as well as a supportive Board of Education and community who have demonstrated their commitment by “Putting the Children First.”
