Dear Memorial Families,

Our Mighty Mustangs educators at Memorial Junior High School are committed to bringing great care to the work that they perform everyday to educate and guide our students to success. They care about the academic and social emotional wellbeing of our students as we work to grow greatness amongst our student body. Our goal of growing greatness will be accomplished by offering rigorous and engaging academic content, reflected in new curriculum resources in all subject areas that promote critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and active learning.

Academically, we continue to push the knowledge and skills of our students by offering a rigorous and engaging curriculum.  Our updated mathematics curriculum promotes analytical and problem-solving activities that expand our students’ critical thinking skills and understanding of number sense.  Students learn about the great history and functions of our society, as well as the trailblazers that have impacted our world in Social Studies classes.  Through scientific discovery, students are examining the elements of our world and testing their theories as young scientists.  Every day, students are exposed to great novels and composition writing activities that force them to express and stretch their imagination, while analyzing the wonders of the world.

At Memorial Junior High School, we offer innovative technology based instructional opportunities through our STEM, Science, and Technology classes that expose students to computer programming, mechanical robot development, scientific method inquiry, and digital literacy. Our educators promote students’ creativity and expression through artistic endeavors in our Art and Music studies that include the production of award-winning artwork and musical performances. Our students are also supported in developing their personal character through such activities as program leadership opportunities, volunteer endeavors, organizing donation efforts, and community service initiatives. You will find many of our students participating in our close to 30 clubs, sports, and activities offerings as they build leadership skills and learn to work cooperatively with others to achieve a common goal.

These are just a few wonderful opportunities that are provided to our students to help the excel and grow their greatness. We hope that you will work with us to help grow greatness within our students by participating in our Mighty Mustangs Family Engagement and Volunteer Programs. Each grade level hosts a family night to stay connected with our students and their families by providing a fun and positive atmosphere where staff, students, and their families can interact through activities and conversation. We also will continue to cultivate our parent volunteer initiative with opportunities at each grade level for parents to offer their time and skills.

The Mighty Mustangs staff members of Memorial Junor High School look forward to a wonderful school year of great work in leading our students to greatness.

Sincerely,

Dr. Keli N. Ross
