TECHNOLOGY

The technology department provides readily available technical assistance as well as faculty and curricular development to support teaching and learning.

At the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year District 158 began its venture into one-to-one computing. Today each of the district's classrooms is equipped with a smart board or Promethean interactive flat panel, several desktop computers, netbooks or convertible touch pads/netbooks, and document cameras. Four of the five buildings also have a dedicated broadcast studio located in the Learning Resource Centers. In addition, all five buildings have a mobile interactive video recording system with IPad and portable green screen.

Our one-to-one computing is intended to be a comprehensive program that supports the integration of technology into the students' learning environment. Teachers incorporate diverse computer-based activities into their curriculum aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

Our Technology Plan is in alignment with our Strategic Plan providing for hardware replacement and incorporates our STEM program technology needs including 3D printers. The goal of our technology program is to establish learning environments where students are comfortable with the use of state-of-the-art technology to learn to think critically within a global environment.
