Hello MJHS Class of 2023 families! It is with great joy and anticipation that we share this pertinent information related to upcoming commencement activities. If you have any questions, please contact your child's Home Base teacher, Mr. Paredes-8th grade Assistant Principal, or the main office 708-474-2383.


Cap and Gown

  • Money will NOT be collected in the main office. 
  • Money will be collected during students’ lunch periods on March 8, 15, 22, 29, 31
  • Price will be $ 35.00 (cash or money order)
  • Distribution of Cap and Gown TBD
  • Cap and Gown picture day will be May 5th between 1 pm and 4 pm. If anything changes you will be notified.
  • ALL FEES MUST BE PAID TO RECEIVE A CAP AND GOWN.

Memorial T-shirts

  • Home Base teachers are collecting money this month (February) for those who have not purchased a T-Shirt.
  • You cannot attend baseball game or Great America without a T-Shirt
  • We extended this to march 17
  • Cost is $ 10.00
    • Date: May 23rd
    • $25 Tentatively

Graduation Requirements

  • Promotion to the next grade level is dependent upon successful completion of courses during the school year or completion of remedial summer school. Successful completion of the following subjects will determine reclassification / remedial summer school: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Literature/Reading, and Physical Education.
  •  If a student fails 2 or 3 classes for the year – the student will be required to attend remedial summer school and could be reclassified. If a student fails 4 or 5 classes for the year – the student can be reclassified in that year’s grade level.
  • Any 8th grade student who is required to attend remedial summer school MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION CEREMONY.
  •  (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FINAL GRADES ARE BASED ON THE AVERAGE OF THE ENTIRE YEAR AND NOT FINAL QUARTER, THEREFORE STUDENTS NEED TO APPLY THEMSELVES FROM THE BEGINNING)
  • 10 or more referrals for the school year – ineligible for school activities, including graduation.
  • 5 ISS for the school year – ineligible for school activities, including graduation
  • 2 OSS or one 10 day OSS for the school year – ineligible for school activities, including graduation
  • Any unserved detention for the school year – ineligible for school activities, including graduation.

Discipline

  • The following guidelines will be utilized to determine a student’s eligibility to attend or participate in any school activities or events for the given school year.

Graduation Date

Graduation ceremony will be May 25th.

Location is going to be at Memorial Junior High School.

Students will be staggered at a designated time based on their last name.

Times will be approximately between 4 pm and 7 pm. More information will be provided as we get closer to this date.

3 tickets will be assigned to each student.

Bowling Trip May 26

Students who are in good standing and who want to go bowling will be able to participate.

1st group 9:00 to 12:00

 2nd group 1:00 to 3:00
