Academic Summer School

5-8th grade Academic Summer School:

Academic Summer School invitations have been mailed home. Letters were sent to inform parents of students who have not met the academic expectations to be promoted to the next grade level. If you received a letter, your child is currently expected to register for academic summer school.  Due to academic concerns that need to be remedied and failure to meet necessary expectations for promotion, your child is required to attend in-person summer school intervention for promotion consideration. Daily attendance and successful completion of all summer school assignments is mandatory. Upon completion of the Academic Summer School Program, your child will be promoted to the next grade-level

 6th and 7th grade students who have received 2+ F’s are required to attend the MJHS Academic Summer School program.

 If you are unsure of whether your child is required to attend summer school, please contact your child’s grade-level assistant principal or Homebase teacher.

*8th grade academic summer school will end on July 13th.

Summer School is a six-week academic program focused on critical reading and mathematics. The Academic Summer School program will meet a total of 17 instructional days during June and July. Classes will not meet on Fridays. A grab-and-go lunch will be provided at the close of each day.

 Transportation will be provided each day for all regular bus riders. A transportation letter will be provided with details regarding the bus route upon registration. It is crucial that your child must be in attendance every day.  Students are also expected to display appropriate behavior throughout the program. In addition, any student missing more than three days without legitimate health or emergency reasons will be dropped from the program. Students who do not fulfill expectations to complete both summer school programs will not be able to receive their 8th grade MJHS diploma.

 8th grade students who have received 2-3 F’s are required to attend the TF South Summer Academy program only.

 8th grade students who have received 4-6 F’s are required to attend the MJHS Academic Summer School program and TF South Summer Academy program.

 TF South Summer Academy will be offered as follows (8th grade only):

Time:        8:00 am – 1:00 pm (Monday through Thursday)

Location:  TF South High School

 Summer Academy busing transportation, which includes multiple pick-up/drop-off locations, will be shared through TF South following registration. Lunch will be provided to participants. Students who do not fulfill expectations to complete TF South’s Summer Academy will not receive their 8th grade MJHS diploma.

For all students attending summer school, please complete online registration, https://forms.office.com/r/qZz..., by Friday, June 2nd to secure your child’s enrollment in summer school.
