Due to anticipated inclement weather, District 158 will be implementing an Emergency E-Learning Day tomorrow (Friday, January 12). Students will participate in remote learning from home and all school buildings will be closed. Athletics and extracurricular activities are cancelled. Staff will be available remotely and this day will not need to be made-up at the end of the school year.

During Winter Break, our District Office will be closed due to construction at Lester Crawl Primary Center. The old building will not have any power on December 26-28, 2023. Technology Assistant Mr. Zalud, a retired Major from the Air Force Auxiliary and former EMT, taught Mrs. McSweeney's sixth graders about rescue missions, plane crash searches, medical emergencies, and how to wear a 40-pound survival backpack! Today a STAY INSIDE protocol was implemented at our schools when a potential threat against one of our elementary buildings was identified. The police investigated this situation and determined that the threat is unfounded. Students and staff are safe. The STAY INSIDE protocol has been lifted but police will continue to be present around the District this afternoon as a precaution.

This morning a smell of gas was identified at Memorial Junior High School due to a malfunctioning part on a snowblower. Our maintenance staff have been performing preventative work in anticipation of the upcoming winter months. We are currently drawing and distributing additional fresh air into the building to dissipate the smell, as well as temporarily relocating rooms as needed. All students and staff are safe.
