Reavis Principal Mr. Kostopoulos completed the final preparations for Home Learning Activities Week 3. These new activities can be found on the district website. Paper copies can be picked up from the Coolidge Kitchen (Door 4) from 9:00 am to 11:00 am when our grab-and-go meals are also available. Happy learning!
District 158 has been safely completing our donation of 50 refurbished laptop computers to families in need during the school closure. The picture below is from Reavis last week. This initiative allows more students to remain engaged in learning activities and access educational technology. Computers are being donated at all five schools. Thanks to our #158Strong Board of Education for approving this!

This week our Board of Education voted unanimously to promote #158Strong Chief School Business Official Mr. Crotty (pictured left) to Assistant Superintendent for Business & Operations! Mr. Crotty has been instrumental in helping District 158 fund our school construction projects, receive the Property Tax Relief Grant, score perfect facility inspections, and provide meals for our students during this school closure. Note this picture was taken last year when Dr. Schilling recognized him at the Illinois Association of School Business Officials Conference. Please practice safe social distancing right now
During our staff institute today, Superintendent Dr. Schilling addressed the entire school district via a live press conference and encouraged everyone to "Keep Calm and Stay #158Strong." We understand these are difficult times and appreciate the cooperation and flexibility from all of our families. The coronavirus is serious but it's important to stay calm, plan, and keep the health and safety of our students and staff as the highest priority. During our most recent professional development at Oak Glen, Mr. Earnshaw cooked up a new activity for the staff: Flippin' Flapjacks! This activity has staff stand on one side of the paper and then flip it without ever touching the floor, building teamwork, collaboration, and problem solving! Mr. Earnshaw is planning to write a book that includes this activity and others for educators - stay tuned! #158Strong #OakGlenGrizzlies
Once again Memorial has made history this year. A HUGE #158Strong congratulations to our record five students who qualified for the State Science Fair at Regionals this past weekend: Annika Biegel, Ainsley Grant, Ryleigh Lafferty, Esmeralda Spencer, and Angel Urquizo! This is the most we've ever had in one year. #MightyMustangs Morgan Kleidon, Angel Ruiz, Godiva Torsjo, and Ezra Vitale also represented Lansing at the event. We'd like to give a shoutout to 8th Grade Assistant Principal Mr. Paredes, as well, who came to support our students and helped judge during the day. It's another great day to be a Mustang!

Reavis 5th Grade students in Ms. Palermo's and Ms. Kruk's class prepare project boards for their Black History Month presentations. In addition to the classroom presentations, students will be putting on a "Live" Wax Museum presentation for the school and parents during one of the Black History Month school-wide presentation assemblies at Reavis this week. #RoadrunnerPride
