The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently informed school districts across the state about two data security incidents in which student information was accidentally or unintentionally made public on their website. Unfortunately, District 158 students enrolled during the 2023-2024 school year were included in these incidents. ISBE has issued the following letter regarding this incident, which is being placed in student files to comply with the Family Education Rights & Privacy Act, or FERPA (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99)
ISBE communicates that no social security numbers or financial account information were impacted because of these data incidents. However, you are welcome to contact their office at (866) 262-6663 or visit their website at www.isbe.net with any questions or for more information.

Due to construction and supply chain delays, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Lester Crawl Primary Center that was planned for next Wednesday, June 5 is being postponed. The event will be rescheduled during the 2024-2025 school year once the building is fully completed. We look forward to showcasing our District's newest facility. Summer EBT, or SUN Bucks, is a new permanent nutrition program authorized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. SUN Bucks 2024 will provide a $120 annual benefit to eligible children via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) issuance by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) later this summer.

The Regular School Board Meeting of Lansing Elementary School District 158 hereby gives notice of a change of date for the meeting originally scheduled for June 19, 2024 at Lansing School District 158 Administration Center, 18300 Greenbay Avenue, Lansing, Illinois. The meeting date has been changed to June 12, 2024 at 6:00 PM for the month of June.
Please be reminded that Online Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will close for returning students tomorrow (Tuesday, April 30, 11:59 PM). Any returning students who do not register during this time will be required to register and prove residency starting Thursday, August 1. Elementary students who register late may need to be shuttled to other schools in the District. We encourage all families to register your student(s) as soon as possible in order to secure a spot at your home school!
