Mrs. Forsyth's 2nd graders had an exciting day! First Mr. Earnshaw read One Drop of Kindness to them. In the afternoon they practiced their spelling words outside, enjoying the beautiful weather!

We are so proud of Taniyla, a 2nd grader in Mrs. Forsyth's class! A classmate was cold at recess so she loaned her coat to them! Congrats to our newest member of our #KINDNESS Crew!

Mrs. Osman's fifth grade class spent the morning reading and discussing One Drop of Kindness. We then talked about mindfulness and did some calming breathing. Mrs. Osman is new this year and joins us from Lyons. She has experience as a reading specialist and literacy coach. Welcome!

Love the modeling from Mrs. Cialdella and Mrs. Joria encouraging 5th graders to utilize their Resource Books! We're all in this together!

Yatzil, Zhakuira, and Drake are the newest members of Oak Glen Grizzlies #KINDNESS Crew! These 3 know exactly how to lift others spirits, focus on the positive, and include everyone!

Thanks to Mr. Johnathan Alsheimer for coming to Oak Glen this week and sharing his message of Next Level Teaching!

Mrs. Nye facilitates small group learning with her 4th graders! She does a great job following up a student response with another higher level question, always keeping the kids thinking!

Oak Glen's Back 2 School Bash was a hit! Thank you to all our Grizzly families and staff who attended and Oak Glen PTA for putting together a fun and memorable night. Can't wait to do it again!

Great night swearing in the new PTA Board (pictured left-to-right: President Sarah Matthews, Vice President Latasha Davis, Treasurer Ashley Ellis, and Secretary Phylicia Burford) at Oak Glen! Looking forward to a productive and collaborative year. If you have not yet signed up, don't forget to do so!

Mrs. Nye's 4th graders at Oak Glen enjoying the weather and "playing" Place Value Roll. Ssshhh...don't let them know it's actually learning!

Oak Glen PTA Back to School Bash

Tressor taught a new rounding trick in Mrs. Larson's 3rd grade math class. Hold a balloon string and open your fingers. If all five open and the balloon floats up, round up! If it stays in your hand, round down!

So proud of Keeli Ford, a 1st grader in Mrs. Berridge's class at Oak Glen, who did something "So Good We Couldn't Ignore" and received our first #Kindness bracelet of the year! Keeli wants to keep what she did a secret, but it was truly thoughtful and helped someone in need! She did what she did because it's the right thing to do, not for recognition. That's a true Oak Glen Grizzly!

Ms. Bown's 5th graders at Oak Glen are sharpening their inference skills - a Common Core State Standard - by discussing what is shared from the "Me Bag" of a classmate!

Walking through the halls at Oak Glen, you'd hear laughter coming from Mrs. Berridge's 1st grade class. Walking in, you'd see groups playing educational math games and having a blast with each other! Learning is allowed to be fun!

Mrs. Fry's and Mrs. Joria's fourth graders at Oak Glen take their learning outside! Place value on the playground!

Ariah Downey, a 5th grader in Mrs. Osman's class at Oak Glen, is So Good We Can't Ignore Her! Ariah befriended a new student who was nervous, making her feel right at home in our Grizzly Den!

Mr. White held a Family Night at Oak Glen to explain the Zones of Regulation, various sensory strategies, techniques available at school and home, and having a growth mindset.

Oak Glen Grizzly staff ending our first week of the 2019-2020 school year! All sporting our "So Good They Can't Ignore Us" shirts and copies of "Relentless" by Hamish Brewer! Get ready, we're taking over and changing the world!

Oak Glen third grader Dimarco Patterson is one of our first recipients of "Students Who Did Something So Good We Can't Ignore!" Dimarco is in Mrs. Larson's class and voluntarily stepped out while playing Four Square to support positive relationships with his fellow students. Great character - that's a true OG Grizzly!
